Another great read for the holidays!!!
It’s a great time of year for giving books and for reading. They holidays make books the perfect gift and the cold winter days and nights make it a wonderful time for the lost art of reading.
If you are into your dogs as most of my readers are and also are ready to bring a child into your life or know someone who is, there is a “must read” for all. It is called, “Before Your Dog Can Eat Your Homework, First You Have to Do It: Life Lessons from a Wise Old Dog to a Young Boy”. The book is by John O’Hurley, well-known for his award-winning role as J. Peterman on Seinfeld. This is the second book written by O’Hurley with regards to the dogs in his life and how they have provided him with comfort, guidance and wisdom throughout his life. In this book, O’Hurley writes about the wonder he has experienced through the birth of his first child and how his dog with whom he has shared many years of his life has come to guide O’Hurley in the many challenges of parentin.
In his first book, by the very original title, “It’s Okay to Miss the Bed on the First Jump: And Other Life Lessons I Learned from Dogs”, he integrates the life lessons of growing up with the love he has for dogs and how the dogs in his life have made such a profound impact on who he is. What O’Hurley does in both of these books is explore the realization that many of us already know….dogs in our lives are good things. They enrich who we are and how we act and most likely, we wouldn’t be the people we’ve become without them. However, O’Hurley does it with wit, charm and humor. So don’t be surprised to find yourself chuckling a bit as you read these books and find some of yourself hidden in his pages.
