Much of the talk after this recent presidential election revolved around the “first puppy”. The choice of a dog for President-elect Obama’s family became an issue of national concern after the election, as he had promised his daughters that whatever the outcome of the election, they would be getting the puppy they had requested for so long. Then the days of debate regarding the type of dog they should get because of the allergies of one of the Obama childrent came into discussion.

Well, it looks like it was all for naught. Vice-President-elect Joe Biden has beat the Obamas to the dog house, you could say. Biden recently visited a kennel in suburban Philadelphia and came out with the dog that will now be the “nation’s Second dog”. The dog, who’s name will be determined by Biden’s grandchildren, is a three month old German Shepard. It appears Joe Biden had an agreement similar to the Obama’s with his wife. Jill Biden said that if her husband and Barack Obama won the election, they too would be bringing a new puppy to Washington.

This will be unlike you and I bringing a new puppy home. There will be no sleepless nights as the puppy gets used to his/her surroundings, or accidents on the carpeting. This dog will spend the next five weeks being housebroken and trained and will be delivered to the Biden household right after the inaugruation. Mark Tobin will be completing the training on the Biden pup. Tobin serves as the coordinator of the police K-9 division in New Castle, Delaware. This is Joe Biden’s home county. The dog is promised to be a nice family dog with no political aspirations. It should be fund to see the Obama dog and Biden dog get together for a play date!!! At least we can bet they are both Democrats!!!
