Great treatment for elderly dogs!!

There have always been cultural differences between the United States and certain Asian cultures, especially Japan. One of the main differences between the cultures is the treatment of the elderly. In Asian cultures, specifically Japan, the elderly are revered and respected for their wisdom, experience and knowledge. They are put on proverbial pedestals and few major decisions are made without requesting the advice and input of the elders in almost all situations, personal as well as professional. However, western cultures are very different. Unfortunately we are not as kind to our elderly. Culturally, we believe that when people get to be a certain age, they are virtually useless and cannot contribute much to either family or job situations. Many elderly are discarded by family members and society because they are looked at as a burden rather than a treasure.
In Japan, it is clear to see that the respect and care for the elderly has carried over to their beloved older dogs. Japan is the first country to open a nursing home for its elderly dogs. A growing number of Japanese pet owners with dogs who have better diets and health care has led to a surge of older dogs in Japan. This doggie nursing home will include care 24 hours a day, seven days a week by veterinarians and other qualified personnel. The nursing home is called Soladi Care Home for Pets is located in a city named Tochigi, which is in eastern Japan. The concept of this nursing home for dogs was created and developed by a joint venture between the Soladi Company and the Endo Veterinarian Clinic also located in Tochigi, Japan.
The resident pooches, of which only 20 at a time will be cared for, will receive fortified meals as well as medical attention for specific conditions. In addition, the “Home” will bring in groups of rescued puppies to entertain, play and frolic with the older dogs. It is hoped that the pups will help the older dogs feel better, and more fit physically and emotionally. It will cost about $800 per month to have your pooch at the Soladi Home, but for many Japanese, this is the least they can do for the elderly dogs in their lives. In fact many Japanese who own elderly dogs are doting on them with other remedies like vitamins, aromatherapy and acupuncture to help them deal with the aches and pains of old age.
