There is so much to tell about our furry buddies, that I thought I’d let you know some interesting facts about dogs. See how many you know and how many make you say hmmmmmm.
Dogs are decendents of a weasle-like mammal known as the Miacias. Wolves and foxes are also decendents of this species. Dogs became “man’s best friend” during the Palaeolithic Age. From then on, they became inseparable.
People have over 5,000,000 smelling “cells”. That sounds like a lot, right? Well a dachshund has 125,000,000 and a fox terrier has 147,000,000. No wonder they can sniff things that out that we can’t even get a whiff of!!!
A dog that is a year old has the maturity of a 15 year old. Wow, another teenager in the house…scary!!!!
Dogs bury bones because it is part of their instinct to do so. It is a result of the way that they eat. They shake things in their mouths because of the way they had to hunt in order to survive.
Dogs have twice the muscles in their ears that people do. Good thing they don’t understand everything they hear.
Dogs are pack animals and once they know their owner is the leader of the pack, they will do the most that they can to earn the approval of the pack leader.
The behavior traits of mutts will be of the breed of dog they resemble most physically.
