Movie, TV, and theatre dogs!!!
When you sit down and think about it, all facets of our entertainment world have exposed us to so many different loveable pooches. Some of the movies that have brought wonderful dogs into our theatres and into our lives have been written about in two previous blogs including RinTinTin and Lassie
You can find dogs in almost any movie genre you are interested in. For example, comedy movies including dogs as major characters include Beethoven, Benji, and Turner and Hooch. Almost everyone knows the story of Little Orphan Annie. Well, who can forget her favorite pooch, Sandy? Sandy fit right into this great musical…remember…”the sun will come out tomorrow”!! Let’s just say its better that you read that rather than heard me sing it. LOL!!!
The field of animation has long used dogs in their storylines. Why? Because kids love dogs and kids love cartoons!!! So there’s a perfect match. Before there was 101 Dalmations with Glenn Close, the animated version is one my daughter watched over and over and over again. One of my favorites was Lady and the Tramp, which recently was re-released from Disney. If you haven’t watched it, check it out, because its adorable.
If you are a sports fan, you have to check out Air Bud, the dog that loves basketball…this is a comedy as well. And you’ll never get bored, because their are 4 movies with the Air Bud character.
There are some dogs who truly touch our heart, such as Old Yeller and one of the most famous pups of all time wanted to travel, “somewhere over the rainbow” with her very devoted owner, Dorothy. I know you can guess that one. That’s right, Toto, from The Wizard of Oz. To sit down and think about it, it is amazing that dogs are present in most aspects of our lives. We welcome them into our homes and into our hearts. Check out some of the movies mentioned above. I’m sure you will enjoy them.
