Some weekend dog tidbits!!
Just in case anyone was losing sleep over this issue, I wanted to let everyone know that Vice-President Elect Joe Biden, now has a name chosen for the 3 month old German Shepard pup that will be coming to Washington with the soon to be Vice President. The dog’s name will be Champ…wow, that’s unique, isn’t it? Sorry to be sarcastic, but the dog is going to be the 2nd dog…couldn’t they come up with something a bit more snappy than Champ? Actually Biden’s granddaughters came up with the name and the vice president-elect’s father called Biden Champ as a nickname when he was a youngster. Animal rights activists were a bit miffed at Biden for going to a breeder rather than a shelter. Biden assured “the people” that his second pup (does that mean it’s the 3rd dog?) will come from a shelter.
As a reminder, we have gotten through a portion of the holiday season, but the days between Christmas and New Years can be just as chaotic as the preparation portion. There are gifts to be returned, sales to check out as well as all of the people you still have to visit or still entertain. It’s a perfect time for your dog to get into trouble. Stephanie Risvold of Irvine, California was walking her guests to the door, when her dog, a lab mix named Cookie gobbled down 13 hot wings. That only took about a minute or two. They spent the next few days having Cookie continuously x-rayed to insure that the bones were dissolving and wouldn’t splinter or cause a blockage. It just takes a second for a dog to get into some serious trouble and this time of the year, there are so many new smells and foods, that it is natural for them to be curious and want to taste everything!!! So keep an eye open, even more than usual at this time of year to make sure that your dog stays happy and healthy through the holidays.
