The leader of the Petwalk!!

In my last entry, I wrote about a great fundraising effort for a local shelter in my area, called the Paws in the Park Petwalk. Unfortunately, I was a bit under the weather (really, I was quite miserable) for the past two days, so I wasn’t able to continue my previous entry. But now I’m back and am glad to be able to tell you about a very special dog.
Blitzen, pictured above, (in costume) is a purebred Shetland Sheepdog who arrived at the DCSPCA (Dutchess County SPCA) last year on Christmas day. Blitzen had some socialization issues, but due to the dedication of an employee at the shelter, Blitzen came out of his shell and this is a dog anyone would be proud to have as their canine companion. Blitzen has been tested for and is on the road to becoming a Certified Therapy dog.
Blitzen is going to lead the Petwalk this year in the hopes of showing everyone how the donations, and the time and love of many can take a homeless dog and make him into a dog that will be both a wonderful addition to a loving family and a dog that will help those heal from both physical and emotional wounds.
In addition to the Petwalk itself, there will be many activites for dogs and their families as well as vendors, sharing their dog wares as well as other services. For example there will be, right on site, a microchipping ID unit that will operate from the DCSPCA Mobile Adoption Unit.
As I said, this is a very community supported shelter and it sounds like the Petwalk will have something there for everyone, dogs and family members alike. I encourage you, if you are in my neighborhood to stop by, bring your dog and have a great day. If you are not from the area, but would like to check out the DCSPCA and the Paws in the Park Petwalk, check out the two links below!!! (You can donate online!!)
