Zeke is saved!!!
Zeke is an adventurous type of dog. A three year old mixed breed, Zeke was always curious. He ran out to play on the day after Thanksgiving and hadn’t been heard or seen from since. Sarah, his owner had pretty much given up hope of of finding him. She and her family looked around for days, but couldn’t find Zeke anywhere. However, if it weren’t for the kindness of strangers in the area surrounding Champaign County, Ohio, I might not be telling you this tale with a wonderful ending.
It was in a 16 inch cement pipe buried in a drainage ditch where Zeke was found. Zeke might have lived his final days in that pipe had it not been for a private utility firm called Dryer and Maller who heard about his plight and his family’s search for this special dog. The workers of this complany had a camera that could be extended into a dark area up to 1000 feet along with other equipment and sheer manpower that helped to locate Zeke. It appears the dog went exploring into the pipe and could not back his way out. Unable to have enough room to turn around, Zeke was stuck. After he was rescued, none seemed happier than the strangers who lent a helping hand to bring Zeke home.
Sarah had to leave the area earlier in the week for business came back to her parents’ home where Zeke was delivered, safe and sound. Sarah was overcome with happiness and gratitude at the sight of her dog. I wish them many happy years together and hope that when Zeke goes out exploring again, he is a bit more careful.
In these troubled times, it is comforting to see that there are people who would lose a day of work to help a dog and a family in need. Perhaps it is the simple gifts like this that truly represent the holiday spirit!!
